Panic Room opening

The expectations that I have for a thriller film opening consists of elements that enhances the audience's understanding of the movie. This initial soundtrack of the opening set the mood of the movie for the audience because it mirrors what the movie is about. The music is up beat, fast and mirrors the title - 'Panic'. Also, when the actors names are shown as the film begins, it reminds me of a confined room because of the buildings all close together.

To my expectations, a horror/thriller movie always consists of some sort of big mansion or big house that is used as a setting where tension will be built up. This is reflected from the opening of this movie as we are immediately introduced to the main characters and the apartment.Additionally, the common convention of a thriller opening often includes the use of stairs, shadows and dark lighting. This clearly demonstrates this.
