Analysis of Student Openings ...

From the student openings that I had watched Rex's with No Name was my favourite because it had such a fast pace that it kept me interested as I personally get bored very easily. Also what made this opening different was that it included dialogue, which for a student opening is very hard to achieve and I think they did it very well.

When the credits rolled on the black screen the credits were in a digitalised font which to the audience would think it has something to do with time because the digital font is normally on a clock. The opening shot is of a man going to answer the phone and we also see his whole face, the man is dressed in a suit which could show that he is important. While he is on the phone you notice that he has sweat on his forehead which indicates the pressure he is under. However we get introduced to another character but we only see his mouth and back of his head which gives us a view to where he is and he is in a phone box but at the end of the conversation we see the whole of his face. The camera was at a low angle as well which shows that he has the power at this point in time. There is good use of location because we are able to put ourselves there and actually imagine us doing it. There are good match cuts as well because when the main character goes to jump over a wall it then cuts to another camera which then shows him in the air from jumping. There was also good use of sound, the music that was used had a quick pace which went along with the action/thriller theme but also when the main character went into slow motion his breathing became very loud and also the exaggerated heart beat. This built up tension as to what happens next.
