Genre and subgenre

The term genre basically means what category a certain film falls into. There are many genres such as romance, thriller, action, adventure, fantasy, horror and etc. However, some films have subgenres. This just means that the film itself falls into one or more of the many categories. This can be romantic comedies, horror thrillers, psychological thriller and many more.

Within thriller itself, there are already many types of subgenres. Some examples of these may be crime thrillers, psychological thrillers, mystery thrillers, political thrillers, supernatural thrillers, horror thrillers and many more. The thirller sub-genre that inspires me the most is supernatural/horror thrillers. As well as the thrilling aspect of the film itself, including horror and supernatural apparitions would deepen the intensity of the build up of tension and suspense. This is really successful in creating anxiety for the audience.

Genre / Sub-genre: Horror/supernatural thriller.

This is the poster that was used to advertise The Eye. Posters is an effective and essential way to express the genre and content of the movie. The poster used here has effectively depicted the horror and thriller aspect of the movie. Clearly the title of the film has been portrayed with the use of the picture of an eye. The use of the hand inside the eye makes this poster even more thrilling,
