Sherlock Holmes

Over the weekend, I went to see Sherlock Holmes in the cinemas. This was really inspiring for many reasons. The editing aspect of mise en scene was particularly effective in emphasising some important parts of the movie. Slow motions were used a lot to show the action and fight scenes in the movie. This is a good technique because it slows down the action so that the audience can actually see what is happening. Also, it shows the facial expressions of the characters which emphasises their emotions.

Sherlock Holmes is a great inspiration is showing how editing can be used effectively to create a certain atmosphere. As a group, we will be considering how to incorporate editing in our own opening so that it can be effective.
