Genre is used in films, this is so there are categories because people have different likes and dislikes and this way it is easier for people to decide on what film they would like to see by the genre. There are also sub genres which gives more information on the film, they are still genres thought but not the main one but are included in the film.
Fair Game:
Genre: Thriller
Sub Genre: Drama
Age Cert: 12A
The poster to Fair Game shows us it has something to do with government as it has the organisations emblem in the background image (C.I.A) therefore telling the audience that there is going to be action involved. There are two people on the front which we would assume are the main characters in the film, one is a man who is further back to the side and then there is a women who is closer and standing straight on which can show she has more power or is of more importance. They are both dressed very formal which can also show that they are in a very important job. The title is big and bold it stands out as fair is shown in white and game is shown in read which leads the audience to believing that word holds some sort of significance.
The Others:
Genre: Drama
Sub Genre: Thriller, Mystery
Age Cert: 12A
The poster to The Others shows a close up of Nicole Kidman's face which only takes up half the poster as the other half is covered in black. Also the look on Nicole's face is of pure fear that is somewhere in the darkness. Also as she is the only person on the poster it shows the audience she is the main character. The font of the title is blurred which to me adds a sense of mystery and it is also glowing which shows it could be something supernatural like ghosts as they are associated which a white glow.
In Time:
Genre: Action
Sub Genre: Thriller, Sci-fi and Romance
Age Cert: 15
The poster to In Time shows Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfriend are on the cover which can attract audiences that like them actors. Also they are very close together and very close up on the poster which shows an intimate connection between the two but also that they must be the main characters. On their arms are numbers which comes back to the title that they have their own time imprinted on them. Also the title is written in big and bold as its in a contrasting colour to the background and on the 'E' it was green just like the time on their arms. The audience would see this connection to sci-fi.
Tower Heist:
Genre: Comedy
Sub Genre: Action
Age Cert: 12
The poster to Tower Heist shows Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy which show us its going to be comedy as they are in a lot of comedy. They are on top of a building which can show there may be something to do with theft also because of the title 'Heist' and cause they are wearing black which suggests theft.. They are standing on top of a building with other people but behind them you can see other buildings behind them. The font for the title is just big and bold again but has blue fade into black which has a sense of mystery.
Harry Potter: Deathly Hallows Part 1
Genre: Fantasy
Sub Genre: Adventure, Drama
Age Cert: 12A
The poster to Harry Potter: Deathly Hallows Part 1 shows the main characters running which through the woods which give it a fantasy, adventure feel to the film. People will know from the name Harry Potter that its to do with magic and wizardry. The font for the title looks like lighting bolts just like Harry Potter has on his forehead. There is a bright light that seems to glow around the main character which can show the importance of them to the audience but also other than that light its very dark which adds that sense of danger of not knowing.
Friends With Benefits:
Genre: Romance
Sub Genre: Comedy
Age Cert: 15
The poster to Friends With Benefits shows Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis which suggests they are the main characters. The body language between the both of them is very flirty, as Mila has her hand up to her face and is smiling but also that her eyes look as though they are looking straight at you. Justin has a cheeky look on his face as he looks as if he is looking at Mila through the title. The title is positioned between them almost like a wall that friends don't want to break through. Also the first letter of each word is blue which give the initials F.W.B.
